Temporary Power of Attorney

One common issue is parents being taken by ICE leaving children behind. Unfortunately, that can result in children either being detained themselves or placed into the foster care system. There will then be a lengthy court battle, often involving lots of attorney fees to have a family member gain guardianship or temporary custody of the children. 

One way to avoid that is to ensure that families have a temporary Power of Attorney form that can be held by someone the family trusts. That would ensure that if a parent is taken, then someone the family trusts can step in and have legal authority to pick the children from school, take them to medical appointments, etc.
